Don't Jump to ConclusionsDeath Comes to Pemberley teaches the importance of having one's facts straight before taking action. In this story, the man that was murdered was entirely innocent. He was killed because of a misunderstanding. The killer thought he was taking the life of someone who had done his family serious wrong, but the man he killed was a different man who was trying to help him and his family. This teaches us that we need to be careful and think through our actions. If we act in the moment without thinking about the results of our actions, or we do not take time to process a complicated situation we find ourselves in, the end result could be harmful... literally.

Put Differences Aside for the Greater GoodDeath Comes to Pemberley shows readers that there is honor in having the ability to put differences aside for the greater good. Mr. Darcy loathes Mr. Wickham, the man on trial for murder. He has known him since childhood, and Mr. Wickham has proven to be a spineless manipulator. Though he despises Wickham, he helps with his case and is there every step of the way, not because he cares about him, but because it is the right thing to do. We are human, and we are not always going to like everyone. We do, however, need to treat them with respect, and we are given a chance to show strong character if we are able to ignore and feelings and help when that person needs it the most.
